I went to the doctor this morning. THAT was fun...trying to get an appointment. Here is kind of how the conversation went:
Nurse: Well, I see you have an appointment for this Thurday, so why don't you keep that one?"
Me: *pause*...*thinking I might need to spell it out for her.) The ER doctor told me to follow up with Dr. E within 3 days, since I might be miscarrying. I am on bed rest until I see her.
Nurse: Is this your first pregnancy?
Me: Yes. You guys know that.
Nurse: I don't really have any openings today, there are no cancellations or anything."
Me: (trying not to blow up) How about if you FIND an opening, because I am CRAMPING and bleeding here, and I'm trying to hold my fetus inside!
That's when she miraculously found an opening for 45 minutes later. I took a 30 second shower and was out the door.
They did an ultrasound, and they found a heartbeat, which wasn't there on Saturday. And they had a "fetal pole". Minion is also positioned very high in my uterus, which means it's not on it's way out or anything. That's the good news. :) Trust me, no one is more stunned than I am right now. The minion is measuring about 6 weeks along, but the gestational sac that it's living in is measuring much, much smaller. That's a cause for concern, according to Doc. I'm still not completely cleared, and I have to go back next week for a comparison to make sure that the Minion is still growing. I'm officially off of bed rest, but I am unofficially on light duty. I don't need to be doing a lot of the stuff that I usually do at work (wrestling dogs and evil cats....lugging around big heavy pieces of equipment...etc...) I'm basically going to plop my butt at the front desk for my whole first trimester. I don't want to risk this.
