Once my nausea started dissipating, I starting eating normally again. It started with a tiny bite of birthday cake, and it ended with a fast food breakfast burrito. More specifically, it ended with me throwing up said breakfast burrito at work, all over myself. That was a very bad morning.
That's when I decided it was just easier to forgo taste and stick to healthy foods. As much as I would love to eat all the fast food I can (because it is so much easier! Drive thru, anyone?) my stomach just doesn't agree. It's a little depressing that celery sticks can soothe my stomach like nothing else can. And when I starting getting dressed this morning so I could go pick up an apple pie (because I don't have the time/energy/talent to try and make one myself) I went to the fridge and grumpily ate apple slices and peanut butter. I am just not willing to throw up this entire pregnancy just to satisfy my taste buds.
Don't get me wrong...I DO like healthy food most of the time. I can eat my weight in raw veggies....but it's just not as enjoyable when it's something that you HAVE to eat, and you can't eat any of the fun favorites that you might crave. (You know...like velveeta shells and cheese. And potato chips. And chocolate.) Casey is wanting to make steaks for dinner tonight, and I'm so dreading it, just remembering my last encounter with steak. I might have to just stick to the potatoes (which is kind of hit or miss) and broccoli.
All this healthy eating explains why I haven't gained even one little pound since I found out I was pregnant. I get conflicting answers when I ask whether this is a good or a bad thing. I'll ask my doctor when I go in for another ultrasound this Thursday. (I guess that it's a cool thing that I get ultrasounds every time I go to the doctor...since I'm both high risk and infertile, they like to keep really close tabs on Minion. And now I get trans-abdominal ultrasounds instead of the wand, which is even better!)
Well, I'm going to sign off for now. All this rabbit food makes me hungry much more frequently...so I have to go forage.

It's fine if you aren't gaining weight as long as you are eating whenever you are hungry.
If you were 100 lbs when you got pregnant it would be a different story.
You just need to explore new and different ways to prepare healthy foods. I made the BEST chip dip yesterday out of avocados, black beans, tomatoes and Colby Jack cheese (just a little). Invest in some flavored vinegars, olive oil and lemon or lime juice.
And you would be amazed at just what a tiny sprinkle of sugar can do for the taste of fruit. OR letting them warm up to room temperature. Makes a huge difference.
i had to gave an ultrasound at each appointment, too. it's pretty rad to get a peek at them each time. :)
by the way, i agree with everything your sister said. i didn't gain weight, either - though i did loose a TON. i weighed less when i went into labor than i did when i got pregnant. it was never a matter for concern. it was clear that he was growing and developing just fine. where i did run into huge problems was AFTER i delivered. all of a sudden i was no longer sick ... and i stuffed my face with everything i had to forgo, be it because of my nausea or doctors orders. so watch it. love you.
Yeah, I think the two previous commentors have it right on about the weight thing. Sorry it's so hard now though.
